, president obama was not actually throwing a football in this photo. you see, you can tell because he is looking slightly up there. that is just unexplainable. why would you do such a thing? clearly it is doctored? there is no way in football, you always look to the down or side unless you're a secretly gay-married muslim, bulldozing reagan. now this, according to the right, this is not really the picture of the president shooting a gun. yes, when the new republic asked he said yes, he was ver sho skeet-shooting. according to them, this is not really the picture of the president shooting a gun, you see they can tell because the president is shooting with the gun sort of too flat. it is too straight, see, now, he is too straight. then there is the errant smoke where it shouldn't be. also the stance, bad form, can't be real. also a little pot belly. no, i'm not kidding, that was actually part of the argument against the veracity of the picture, you can see his tummy, >> and i'm exciting about this world where in which i look bad in a picture i can doctor it. >> i am going to say all the

in common. republicans control the states legislatures and governor's mansions and president obama won the last two elections in those states. the scheme seemed to have crashed before they even began in most of those states. in florida, for example, top republicans have publicly backed away. in virginia a bill in the state senate was killed in committee. in ohio the republican governor indicated he was opposed. it's the same in michigan and wisconsin where even paul ryan recently said he was against the change. that leaves just one state for now, pennsylvania. and republicans there seem intent on going ahead. the senate majority leader says he will introduce legislation this month to change how the state's electoral votes are awarded. that woot mean instead of obama winning all of the state's 20 electoral votes, veld gotten only 12. it's another example of republicans trying to fight a demographic war that's going against them. will this latest scheme succeed? jim burn is the chairman of the democratic party of pennsylvania and eugene robinson is a columnist for "the washington post" a

. president obama told voters back in october that the sequester would not happen, but as it is about to become a reality, the president is calling on congress just a few minutes from now to delay those massive cuts. joining me now for our daily fix chris caliz sdmr a and managing editor of post politics.com, and nbc's capitol hill correspondent kelly o'donnell. first to you, chris. it seems as though the president is trying one last time, perhaps it's not the last time, to take it to congress. is this going to work? >> i think what he saw, andrea, was this expectation that we had a couple of months ago, honestly, that while they would never let the sequester happen, it's this kind of across the board cut that cuts domestic, that cuts defense spending, and that politicians don't want this on either side. i think what the president and his senior team realized as well, republicans may not want it, but they seem okay to let it happen. they don't have to vote. nothing has to happen. it just -- the date comes, and the sequester happens. i think this is an attempt to say, look, we don't wa

something. that -- that is my main message here today. >> that was president obama today in minneapolis, once again urging congress to make a move on gun control legislation. but over the last 36 hours we've seen some actual shifts within the gun control debate. first, there was chris wallace's kind of amazing interview with the national rifle association frontman wayne lapierre, the 15-minute interview demonstrated he was not just out of step with the center but also some with the right. take the background checks, for instance, 92% of people favor the background gun checks, 85% support the gun checks. but lapierre called the background checks a fraud. >> i think what they will do is turn this universal check on the law abiding on a universal registry of the law abiding people, they don't want that. >> forgive me, sir, you take something that is here and you say it is going to go all the way over there. there is no indication, i mean, i can understand you saying that is the threat. but there is nothing that anyone in the administration has said that indicates they will have a universal
